Itinerary Summary

This 16-day Gujarat journey blends culture, heritage, and wildlife, beginning with Ahmedabad’s heritage walk and landmarks before continuing to Patan’s UNESCO-listed stepwell and Patola weavers, Dholavira’s Harappan ruins, and the white desert of Kutch with its artisan villages. The route also includes Gondal’s royal treasures, Palitana’s sacred Jain temples, Gir National Park for Asiatic lions, Somnath Jyotirlinga, the coastal charm of Diu, and Vadodara’s regal palaces and museums, before concluding back in Ahmedabad.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Ahmedabad International Airport and Half day visit.
  • Arrival assistance and transfer to the Hotel.
  • Later in the afternoon, a half-day visit to Ahmedabad, including Gandhi Ashram, Hutheesing Jain Temple, and the evening local market at the Law Garden, to witness machine-made mirror embroidery textiles & oxidised jewellery.
  • Overnight stay in Ahmedabad.
  • Morning Heritage walk (02 hours) of the old city, beginning from Kalupur Swaminarayan Temple and finishing at Jama masjid.
  • Visit Sidi Syed Mosque, Adalaj Stepwell Sarkhej ka Roza.
  • Overnight stay in Ahmedabad.
  • Morning drive to the Little Rann of Kutch via a visit to Sidhpur to see the Bohras Havelis, Patan's Rani ki Vav (stepwell), a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Patan Patola Museum by the National Award winner, the Salvi Family.
  • Visit the famous Sun Temple of Modhera & later drive to the Little Rann of Kutch.
  • Overnight stay at Hotel / Lodge.
  • Morning Jeep Safari at Little Rann of Kutch to see Wild Ass / Birds. Evening safari to a nearby village to visit different communities.
  • Overnight stay at Hotel / Lodge
  • Note: The Wildlife Sanctuary is open from October 16th to June 15th.
  • Morning drive to Dholavira.
  • Check in at the Hotel.
  • Later, visit the Harrapan UNESCO World Heritage Site. And the Archaeological Museum (Closed on Friday), Fossil Park.
  • Overnight stay at Hotel / Lodge
  • Morning drive to Bhuj via the Road through Heaven and visit Banni villages to see different communities and their handicrafts, such as Rogan Art, Lacquer work, Leather work, copper bell making, Embroidery, mirror work, Tana Bana, etc.
  • Visit the Dhordo White Desert (November to February. Visit depends if water is dried up).
  • Later, drive to Bhuj
  • Overnight stay at Bhuj Hotel.
  • In the morning, visit Ajrkahpur to see block printing done with natural dyes, then LLDC Museum, which showcases the Kutch textiles/communities, Bhujodi village to see Shawl weaving done by the Vankar community.
  • After Lunch, visit the Aaina Mahal Museum and the Kutch Museum, and explore the old city by walking.
  • Overnight stay at the Hotel.
  • Note: The LLDC Museum Is Closed on Mondays and Public Holidays. Aina Mahal – closed on Thursday and Public Holidays. Kutch Museum is closed on Wednesdays, 2nd Saturdays, and 4th Saturdays, as well as on public holidays.
  • A morning drive to Gondal. Later visit Naulakha Palace, Royal Car Collection of Maharaja of Gondal, Swaminarayan Temple & if time permits have a stroll through local market
  • Overnight stay at the Gondal Palace
  • In the morning, drive to Sasan Gir via a visit to Junagadh city to see Uperkot Fort, Buddhist Caves, Stepwells, Mahabat ka Makbara, and Ashoka Rock Edicts.
  • After visiting, drive to Sasan Gir. Check in at the Hotel and PM Jeep Safari at Gir National Park to try our luck to see Asiatic Lions.
  • Overnight stay at Sasan Gir Hotel/ Lodge
  • Note: Gir National Park is open from October 16th to June 15th. Safari permit booking is 100% online and the online booking opens 90 days before the date of the safari. And permit subject to availability at the time of booking. Exclusive Safari only.
  • One more Jeep safari in the morning at Gir National Park, back to the hotel, freshen up and drive to Diu via visit to Somnath Temple (which is one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlinga)
  • Overnight stay at Diu
  • Before breakfast, visit the fish market at Vanakbara (a 25-minute drive). Return to the hotel for breakfast and then visit Diu Fort and St. Paul's Church.
  • After Lunch, drive to Bhavnagar. If time permits, visit the Takhteshwar Temple of Lord Shiva, which offers a panoramic view of the city.
  • Overnight stay at Bhavnagar.
  • Very early in the morning, at 05:30 AM, Drive to Palitana with a packed cold breakfast. Visit the beautiful 863 Jain Temple on Mt Shetrunjaya, and one has to climb 4000-foot steps to reach the Temple complex on the top ( those who cannot climb up can take Doli / Palkhi, which is available on spot on a direct payment basis).
  • After visiting, drive to Dared Village. Explore the village on foot to witness various activities by villagers, including diamond polishing, local agriculture transport vehicle making, a visit to the Maldhari family's house, and jaggery production.
  • Overnight stay at Darbargadh Dared.
  • Note: Photography not allowed (inside/outside) at Palitana
  • Drive to Vadodara via a visit to Lothal, an Indus Valley civilisation site.
  • Check in at the Hotel. Later, visit the Lakshmi Vilas Palace. Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III built the Palace in 1890, who ruled the Baroda State. Major Charles Mant was credited as the principal architect of the Palace, which is four times the size of Buckingham Palace. The Fatehsinh Museum is also worth visiting for its Raja Ravi Verma paintings, among other attractions.
  • Overnight stay at Vadodara.
  • Note: Lakshmi Vilas Palace and Fathesinh Museum closed on Monday and Public Holidays.
  • Drive to Jambughoda via a visit to Chhota Udepur to see the Rathwa community & their daily lifestyles, Pithora Painting.
  • Overnight stay at Jambughoda.
  • Morning drive to visit Champaner Archaeological Park, UNESCO World Heritage Site, Juma Mosque, and other mosques by walking, which are Nagina masjid, Kevadia masjid, and also visit Helical Stepwell
  • After the visit, drive to Ahmedabad.
  • Overnight stay at Ahmedabad.
  • Early morning departure for your home country.
  • All the national parks are open from October 16 to June 15
